SCANDIUM CANADA'S SUBSIDIARY SPECIALIZING IN
Scalium®: Ultra-High-Strength Aluminum-Scandium Alloys
Our portfolio
Scalium® Rolled Products
From skis to airplanes to satellites, our patent-pending ultra-high-strength aluminium-scandium alloys (Scalium®) in rolled products, enables lighter structures and stronger components in high-stress applications, empowering breakthrough designs with a sustainable approach.
Scalium® alloys can reach a UTS of over 700 MPa while still offering excellent ductility (8 to 12%).
Scalium® Powders
3D Printing & Laser Powder Bed Fusion: Our AA535 and AA7075 powders eliminate microcracking in high-strength alloys during Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF), with relative densities above 99% and UTS of 330–380 MPa. They are currently in qualification testing with advanced-manufacturing end users.

Scalium® Rolled Products Advantages
Ultra-high strength
Some Scalium® alloys demonstrated strength results of up to 45% higher than typical 7075 aerospace aluminum.
High specific strength
May have the potential to substitute high-strength aluminum alloys or titanium in high-stress applications.
Lighter parts
With its high strength, Scalium® enables the manufacturing of lighter parts.
Patent pending
Among the strongest aluminum alloys in the world — from sheets to plates, and soon billets & extrusions.
Scalium® Powders For LPB-F Advantages
Microcrack-free L-PBF
Our modified AA535 and AA7075 powders eliminate the micro-cracking that limits high-strength aluminum in laser powder bed fusion, with a broad processing window and relative densities above 99%.
Ultra-high yield strength
Yield-strength gains of 150% (AA535) and 18% (AA7075) over the base alloys, with yield strength up to 650 MPa.
Specific strength above titanium
A strength-to-weight ratio that can exceed Ti-6Al-4V titanium, at roughly 60% of its density, for lighter parts and lower operating costs over a component's life.
Lower process costs
Scalium® prints complex parts near net shape, cutting material waste and subtractive-process costs, a real advantage for high-value alloys.
Scalium® Welding Wires Advantages
Built for WAAM
Engineered for efficient welding and Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing, to build large primary structures and components layer by layer.
Ultra-high strength
The same patent-pending AA7075 chemistry as our powders carries high strength into welded and additively manufactured parts.
Lighter parts
Aluminum-scandium replaces heavier materials in welded assemblies, cutting weight and lifetime cost without sacrificing strength.
Near final shape & less waste
WAAM builds large parts close to their final shape, reducing machining needs and wasting significantly less metal.
An eco-friendly surface treatment
We are currently scaling up production of our innovative surface treatment, which offers optimal adhesion properties and creates an excellent bonding interface on aluminum. Furthermore, this eco-friendly surface treatment is safe for workers and easy to work with.
Our Mission
At Scalium+, we develop and commercialize innovative materials that transform the manufacturing industry worldwide, help our clients design lighter, stronger, and longer-lasting products, and support their sustainability objectives.
